ABOUT US

The Petroleum Society is a world wide, non-profit organization supported by members. We provide members the opportunity to learn, communicate and gather technical information through educational training, conferences, luncheon meetings, as well as through Canada 's premier technical publication, the Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology (JCPT).

CONFERENCES

Our Canadian International Petroleum Conference (CIPC), held annually in June, is a great place to learn about new techniques and projects upcoming in the industry. Our Heavy Oil and Horizontal Well Special Interest Group also holds a conference in the early Spring, our Lloydminster Section holds a conference in the early Fall, and various of our other Sections hold conferences at regular intervals.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

We provide high quality short courses and seminars to keep the industry abreast of new technologies and developments. The courses are available to both members and non-members of the Society.

SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS (SIGs)

Back to Basics, General Interest, Heavy Oil and Horizontal Well, International Business Development, Petroleum Economics and Reservoir Evaluation and Production Optimization SIGs offer three to four Technical Luncheon topics each month (except in the summer). Technical Luncheon presentations by speakers in the industry cover a wide range of technical and non-technical topics related to the petroleum industry. Technical Luncheons are held at the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, with ticket prices of $26 for members, $36 for non-members, and $10 for Students.

PUBLICATIONS

Our flagship publication, the Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology (JCPT), is published monthly and includes peer-reviewed technical papers on recent technological innovations. All technical papers and articles published from 1962 onward can be viewed on our website through our Online Tech Bank Archive.

We also publish various technical monographs (including Determination of Oil and Gas Reserves and Horizontal Wells for the Recovery of Oil, Gas and Bitumen) and the Canadian Oil and Gas Evaluation Handbooks.

Publications can be purchased online through our website or by contacting the Petroleum Society office.
