CIPC-2006-07: Fundamentals of Petroleum and Natural Gas Pricing

Who Should Attend: This tutorial is designed for reservoir, petroleum, and exploitation engineers/ technologists who are involved in the evaluation of petroleum assets.
Tutorial Description: This tutorial will examine that which is considered in the development of a price forecast for use in the evaluation of oil and gas properties. It will also review the process by which evaluators determine the prices to be used in an evaluation.
Instructor/s: Nora T. Stewart, P.Eng., obtained her Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto in 1976. After two years with TransCanada PipeLines Limited, a major natural gas pipeline company, she moved from Toronto to Western Canada. Since taking residence in Calgary, Alberta, she has worked primarily in the natural gas industry with Canadian Western Natural Gas Company Ltd. and Northwestern Utilities Limited. At Sproule, she is responsible for all energy price analysis and forecast development. Her expertise is primarily in the area of natural gas supply and demand, including storage, marketing, contracts, and economic analyses. She joined Sproule as a Senior Engineer in 1989, and became an Associate in 1992.
Ms. Stewart has co-authored a number of papers on petroleum economics and the Canadian petroleum industry. She also lectures extensively on energy pricing and petroleum economics, including four years of lecturing at the University of Calgary.
